The OBCs continue to demonstrate the benefits of being engaged with the regulator especially as now we have a new Chief Inspector Sir Martyn Oliver who has launched the Ofsted Big Listen.
Sir Martyn is keen to hear from the sector and having a conversation with his team face to face is the best way to do this. Ofsted is aware of some of our concerns especially now we are on the crest of a very unstable wave as we try and roll out the expansion with so few highly qualified staff, an increase in children with SEND and limited funding. It will take more than a juggler to do this and keep quality strong.

The report is based on thematic visits to 6 local areas where families access Start for Life services through a family hub. Parents say that they are more confident in feeding their infants and have better perinatal mental health, and that their children achieve better outcomes. Local areas are aware that there is more work to do to ensure all families, including those from seldom-heard groups or those who have a disability, can access Start for Life services in every family hub. Some aspects of the Start for Life programme are better developed than others. Postnatal services that offer support for perinatal mental health and infant feeding are more established than services for expectant parents. The home learning element of the programme for under 2s is less well developed in all areas. Read on…
